With the win, the No. 39 Brewers move to 2-0 on the season, while the Bombers are now 1-1 overall.
Doubles action kicked off with a win from the second flight as Vassar's rookie duo of
Jay Wong and
Benjamin Almquist powered their way to an 8-3 win over Ithaca's George Lomas and Nicolas Luis. The Brewers picked up their second point from one as seniors
David Gandham and
Adam Krueger downed Minos Stavrakas and Deon Kraft by an 8-6 margin. VC concluded the doubles sweep with a hard-fought match at three as junior
Mihajlo Ivanovic and rookie
Arun Guruswamy notched an 8-7 (8-6) win over Ithaca's Eric Dubilirer and Jacob Wachs.
In singles action, Wong posted the Brewers fourth point with a solid 6-2, 6-1 win from two over Lomas. Krueger was next off court at four, besting Artem Khaybullin, 6-2, 6-1. Gandham made it a 6-0 advantage for the Brewers at one, defeating Stavrakas, 6-3, 6-4, while Almquist powered his way to a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9) win against Luis from three.
Ivanovic posted point number eight for the Brewers, recording a 6-4, 6-0 win over Dubilirer at five, while senior
Nicolas Demaria bested Kraft at six by a solid 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) margin to close out the match.
Vassar is back on the court next Saturday when it welcomes Skidmore to Josselyn Courts at 10am.
