TROY, NY – It was a meet of season's bests for the Vassar men's and women's swimming & diving teams as they traveled to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for dual meet action on Saturday at Robison Pool. The men shouldered a 175-100 loss, while the Brewers women fell, 164-112 to the Engineers.

Opening action in the 200-yard medley relay saw the Brewers foursome of sophomore Sarah Quintana, junior Lillian Lowenthal, rookie Maya Luongo and junior Abby Whittington combine for a second-place time of 1:53.97.

The men's event saw seniors Brandon Li, Nikolas Pham, Max White and rookie Ben Glazebnik take third overall with a mark of 1:40.36. In a tough 1000-yard freestyle field, sophomore Alejandra Robins put forth a solid fifth place with a time of 11:37.96, while junior Robbie Perot was the victor on the men's side, blazing to the win in a season-best time of 9:59.39 – nearly 11 seconds faster than second-place.

In the women's 200-free, Quintana and sophomore Alanna Muello had outstanding efforts with season-best marks as Quintana took second overall with a time of 2:02.45, while Muello was third in 2:02.83. The men's side saw White take third place as he touched the wall in a time of 1:50.70.

The women's 100-backstroke saw senior Jesse Ecklund post the win in 59.54, besting RPI's Megan Beaulieu by a fraction as the Engineers swimmer took second in 59.74. In the men's event, Li was third with a time of 58.27, while Leroy Wang was fourth overall (1:02.39).

The men had a strong showing in the 100-yard breaststroke, paced by Pham who was second with a time of 1:03.16. Hanlin Wang took third in 1:03.22, while rookie Hayden Ehrenfeld touched for fourth in a time of 1:05.97.

Robins then grabbed second overall in the 200-yard butterfly, touching in 2:18.77, while Lowenthal and sophomore Karlie Porter were third (2:21.07) and fourth (2:22.48) overall. Whittington went on to earn second in the 50-free with a time of 26.01, while Glazebnik continued to dominate individually with a blazing time of 22.00 for the win in the 50-free.

Next up came the diving events as junior Evelyn Boyle finished second overall off the 1-meter board with a score of 156.07 points. In the men's 3-meter, senior Sam Fujikawa had a strong showing, earning second with 167.77 points.

The women's 100-free saw Muello earn second in 56.91, followed by Whittington in third (57.12) and junior Grace Myers in fourth (57.78). Glazebnik captured the win in the men's event, taking the 100-free crown with a time of 48.91.

Next up was a dominant effort by Ecklund as she took the win in the 200-backstroke in a time of 2:08.93. That time bested second-place finisher Beaulieu by nearly six seconds (2:14.06). White was third on the men's side with a time of 2:07.98.

In the 200-breaststroke, sophomore Szofia Lewis was second with a time of 2:55.34, while the men's side saw Hanlin Wang earn second (2:17.71), followed by classmate Lukas Johnson in third (2:36.16).

In the 500-free, Quintana powered her way to third overall in a time of 5:32.27, while Perot was the men's victor with a time of 4:51.69 – eight seconds faster than second place (4:59.69). Next in the 100-fly, Robins was the winner with a time of 1:01.46, while Pham had a solid swim in the men's 100 – producing a lifetime best time of 55.49 for third overall.

Back to diving and on the men's 1-meter board, Fujikawa took second overall with 192.75 points, while rookie Jacob Cerone was third with 144.37 points.

In the women's 200-individual Medley, Ecklund captured her third individual victory winning by nearly three seconds with a time of 2:15.21, while Perot finished fifth for the men in 2:05.57.

Rounding out the meet was the 400-free relay events. For the women, the foursome of Myers, Muello, Ecklund and Whittington took fourth in a time of 3:46.37, while the men saw Ehrenfeld, Pham, Perot and Glazebnik combine for second in 3:18.12.

The Brewers return to action on Friday when they return home to Kresge Pool for a 6pm dual meet against SUNY New Paltz.
