Opening set action saw the Brewers take an early 6-3 lead behind multiple New Paltz errors and a pair of kills from Miller. The Hawks closed the gap to 12-8 behind an Abbott strike, but a 6-0 swing for the Brewers saw them take an 18-9 advantage. Trailing 21-14, the homestanding Hawks put up a 4-1 run which included a kill from Williams, but multiple errors and a Hayes kill closed out the set victory.

Second set action saw the Brewers once again open a lead, but New Paltz went on a 10-1 run to turn a 6-3 Vassar lead into a 13-7 advantage. Facing a 22-15 deficit, the Brewers battled back behind multiple New Paltz errors to make it a 23-20 Hawks lead, but Abbott posted a final kill to give the home team the second set win.

In the third set, both teams went back and forth, each getting runs but both found themselves tied at 10-all following an Ehnstrom kill. A strike from Miller helped Vassar regain the lead and the Brewers utilized a three-point swing which included another strike from Ehnstrom to take a 19-14 lead. New Paltz pulled it to within 21-19 but four straight points, including two kills from Hayes sent Vassar into the fourth set with a 2-1 lead.

Fourth set saw a Williams kill pull New Paltz to within one (13-12), but Vassar rallied, going on a 9-0 run to take a daunting 22-12 lead. Hayes paced the offense during that span, laying down all four of her service aces and a kill. New Paltz added three more points, but Vassar capitalized on multiple errors by the Hawks to win the set and the match.
