Swimming & Diving Shoulders Dual Meet Loss at Brandeis

Brewers women fall 146-121; Men suffer 182-89 loss to Judges

WALTHAM, MA - The Vassar College women's and men's swimming & diving teams returned to the water on Saturday, squaring-off against Brandeis University in dual meet action in Waltham. The Judges women posted a 146-121 victory, while the Brandeis men were victorious, 182-89.

The Brewers saw a number of successes on the afternoon for both squads. In the opening 200-yard medley relay, the women's foursome of Sarah Quintana, Abby Jenkins, Maya Luongo and Abby Whittington combined for third with a time of 1:57.21. The men's event saw Max White, Nikolas Pham, Han Ryu and Ben Glazebnik touch the wall in second with a time of 1:39.18.

In the women's 1000-yard freestyle, Abby Wang swam to fourth with a mark of 12:46.56, while the men's event saw Robbie Perot post second with a time of 10:12.03. Next up was the 200-yard freestyle, which saw the women's side paced by Jesse Ecklund, who took second in a time of 2:01.79. Ecklund was followed closely by Grace Myers in third with a mark of 2:02.76. The men's event was highlighted by White, who was second with a time of 1:46.87.

Quintana earned the Brewers their first individual victory on the day, winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.56. The men's event saw Brandon Li take third in a time of 57.48. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Lillian Lowenthal grabbed Vassar its second victory of the meet, posting a time of 1:12.37. In the men's event, Pham paced the way in fourth (1:02.83), followed by Hanlin Wang in fifth (1:05.34) and Hayden Ehrenfeld in sixth (1:06.05).

The 200-yard butterfly saw Alejandra Robins take second in a tim eof 2:20.94, followed by Luongo in third (2:23.36). The men's side saw Tyler Tsukuda earn third with a mark of 2:09.90. Whittington was then third in the women's 50-free (25.94), while Glazebnik took second on the men's side (22.31).

One-meter diving then got underway with Evelyn Boyle grabbing the victory with a score of 184.90 points for the women, while Sam Fujikawa and Jacob Cerone were first (191.10 points) and second (150.90 points), respectively.

Back to the pool following diving, Whittington earned second in the women's 100-free (56.59), while Glazebnik was third for the men (49.60). The women's 200-yard backstroke saw Ecklund victorious in her signature event, posting a time of 2:11.14 for the win. The men's event saw White finish third with a mark of 2:06.16.

Quintana then earned second in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:44.38, while Hanlin Wang was the top finisher in the men's 200-breast, taking fourth with a time of 2:25.27. Next up in the 500-free, Robins was second overall for the women, touching the wall in a tim eof 5:42.70, while the men's side saw Perot also earn second. He hit the wall in 4:55.27.

In the 100-butterfly, Lowenthal was second with a mark of 1:01.66, while Pham placed fourth in the men's event with a time of 56.12. Next up was the 200-yard Individual Medley as Lowenthal earned her second victory of the day, posting a time of 2:18.37. The men's event saw Perot earn third overall with a time of 2:05.27.

The final event of the day - the 400-freestyle relay - saw the women's foursome of Myers, Whittington, Ecklund and Alanna Muello victorious with a top time of 3:44.03. The men's relay was led by Glazebnik, Li, Perot and White, who combined to post a time of 3:18.28.

Vassar returns to the pool next Saturday, traveling to Montclair State for a 1pm dual meet against the Red Hawks in New Jersey.
