Vassar pulled ahead early, scoring two runs in the first inning. Juniata added one run right after, but the Brewers built up to a 3-1 lead in the second.
After walking, sophomore Ty Langford (Tujunga, CA) stole second. Grathwohl singled on a hard ground ball to center field to allow Langford to score. Juniata went three straight outs at the bottom of the frame, with first-year pitcher Ryan Harris (Langhorne, PA) striking out one batter.
Then in the third, freshman Ezra Caspi (Holmdel, NJ) homered to right field for his collegiate first and put the Brewers ahead 4-1.
