SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – A fourth-quarter resurgence propelled the Vassar College women's basketball to a 74-56 victory at Skidmore College in Liberty League action on Tuesday evening. The Brewers improve to 10-5 on the season and are now 6-2 in league play. The Thoroughbreds, who outscored VC in third quarter, are now 2-13 and 0-8 in the Liberty League.
The fourth quarter proved the key frame for the Brewers, who held just a 45-41 lead heading into the final stanza. Following a layup from sophomore forward Clare Driscoll, Vassar responded as a 6-0 run and shots from junior guard

Sarah Gillooly opened up a 51-43 advantage with 8:17 to play.
Skidmore battled back as Kate McCarney dropped in a pair of free throws, but the Brewers continued to answer at the other end as another 6-0 run – paced by four points from senior captain
Jackie Cenan pushed the edge back to 57-45 at 6:25.
A Jessica Centore three-pointer helped bring Skidmore back, but senior captain
Sophie Nick's 15th point of the game, followed by another Peczuh layup inside made it a 61-48 contest halfway through the frame.
The offensive explosion continued for the Brewers in the final two minutes, opening a 19-point lead (72-53) with a shot from downtown by Nick, followed by a layup from freshman guard
Alex Lee. The Brewers would allow just three more points in the final 2:03 enroute to the win.
Vassar was paced in the contest by Nick, who recorded a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead all players in both categories. She also added two assists, two blocks and a steal. DeOrio also had an outstanding game, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds and seven assists. Lee came off the bench to record eight points with five caroms and a steal.
For Skidmore, Centore posted 17 points with three boards, four assists and three steals. Driscoll added 11 points and seven caroms with two assists, a block and a steal, while McCarney had seven points and a game-best eight assists.
The Brewers battled back to finish with a 50.0% field goal percentage for the game, while holding Skidmore to 36.1%. Vassar was also clutch at the line, shooting 72.7%, while the Thoroughbreds were 50.0% at the charity stripe.
Both teams return to action this weekend as Vassar welcomes Rensselaer, while Skidmore hosts Bard. Both league contests begin at 5:30pm on Friday evening.
