Women's Soccer Shoulders Road Loss at Stevens

Brewers fall by a 4-1 margin to Ducks in non-conference action

HOBOKEN, NJ - Stevens Institute of Technology scored a pair of goals in each half enroute to a 4-1 win over Vassar College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Ducks move to 4-3-1, while the Brewers are now 3-4-1 overall.

Stevens broke onto the scoreboard less than four minutes into the contest after Gabby Saade floated the ball in from six-yards out to Fiona Matthews for the score.

Vassar retaliated in the 19th minute as a shot off the crossbar from Savannah Cutler, bounced to the foot of Emma Tanner, who banked it in to tie the contest.

The Ducks grabbed the 2-1 lead before halftime as a cross to the middle deflected off the foot of a Vassar defender to Olivia Panko as she buried it in past Brewers goalie Fiona Walsh in the 36th minute.

Second half action saw the homestanding Ducks score once again in the 50th minute as Saade connected on a pass from Kaitlyn Casiano for the 3-1 lead. Stevens then pulled off a rare two-assist goal as Ally Wanzor buried the ball off a point-to-point setup from Saade and Matthews.

In goal, Erika McCarthy earned the win, notching three saves. Walsh recorded two stops for the Brewers. For the contest, Stevens owned a 21-14 advantage in shots, while Vassar held the edge in corner kicks, 5-2.

Vassar returns to action on Saturday, opening Liberty League play at 2pm on Gordon Field against Union College. Stevens returns to the pitch on Saturday as well, hosting #13 Arcadia at 12pm.
