BRUNSWICK & LEWISTON, ME - The Vassar College men's squash team took to the courts in Maine this weekend, taking on Bowdoin College and Bates College. Both matches were 9-0 losses for the Brewers, who are now 4-4 on the season.
From the first position, freshman
Sameer Mustafa shouldered a 3-0 loss (11-4, 11-2, 11-5) to Deven Kanwal, while from two, junior
Milind Joshi fell 3-0 (11-1, 11-0, 11-4) to John Milligan. Three saw sophomore
Henry Mitchell go up against Tyler Shonrock, shouldering a 3-0 (11-1, 11-1, 11-0) loss.
Freshman
Matthew Hein fell 3-0 (11-2, 11-1, 11-0) against Adham Sobhy at four, while sophomre
Alex Wisneski was bested by Gannon Leech at five, 3-0 (11-3, 11-1, 11-9). Sophomore
Reese Collins shouldered a 3-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-4) loss to Henry Somerby at six, while sophomore
Max Swan fell 3-0 (11-1, 11-0, 11-3) to Drew Clark from seven. Sophomore
Liam Condon fell to Edwardo Perez at eight, 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-3), while from nine, classmate
Jonah Miles fell to Travis Rase, 3-0 (11-5, 11-1, 11-5) .
Against Bates, Mustafa fell to Graham Bonnell (11-2, 11-2, 11-3) at one, Joshi fell to Jesper Phillips at two (11-2, 11-1, 11-2), while Mitchell shouldered a loss to Garon Rothenberg (11-1, 11-1, 11-1) at three. From four, Hein fell to Jonathan Walker (11-2, 11-1, 11-5), Wisneski fell to Benni McCornish at five (11-3, 11-1, 11-2), and Collins fell to Jairaj Singh at six (11-4, 11-3, 11-0). At seven, Swan fell to Sultan Hashmi (11-0, 11-3, 11-3), while at eight, Condon shoulderd defeat against Peter Koenigsbauer (11-3, 11-3, 11-4). Finally from nine, Miles fell to David Quintero (11-3, 11-1, 11-2).
The Brewers return to action on Sunday at 11am when they conclude their Maine trip at Colby College.
