POTSDAM, N.Y. – Five Brewers scored in double figures on Friday night, with Vassar taking the 86-69 win over Clarkson. Sophomore
Ryan DeOrio (Collegeville, PA) paced the offense with a career-high 18 points behind a 66.7 shooting percentage. Â Vassar has now won six straight and moves to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in Liberty League play, while Clarkson drops to 4-6 and 1-3 in the conference.

Sophie Nick (Denver, CO) pushed their lead to 10 at 1:24. In the final Golden Knights' possession,
Sarah Gillooly (Stow, MA) swiped the ball from Emma Buonanno with five seconds remaining. Gillooly passed to
Isa Peczuh (Willington, CT) who picked up
Skylar Schmid (Natick, MA) for the buzzer-beater layup and the 19-7 advantage heading into the second quarter.
Clarkson would pull within nine points at 3:06 in the second, but a Nick triple sparked a 14-5 run for the remainder of the half. Vassar scored six points in the final 47 seconds behind a pair of layups from DeOrio and another from Cenan to lead 45-27.
The Golden Knights were unable to break the double-digit barrier in the second half, and the Brewers led by as much as 19. Clarkson knocked a pair of triples to open the half, but DeOrio responded with her own off a Nick assist at 7:08. In the final quarter, Clarkson began on a 4-0 run when the Brewers called a timeout. Following the break,
Dani Douglas (Kalispell, MT) knocked down a trey to start a 10-4 run. The Golden Knights could not manage a late comeback, with Vassar answering after any made basket. A final layup by Schmid with 45 seconds left sealed the Brewers' win.
Cenan recorded her first-career double-double behind 16 points and 12 rebounds and also had three blocks and a steal. Nick tallied 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Peczuh had 13 points and Douglas had 12.
Maddie Leong (Atascadero, CA) grabbed a career-high nine boards. As a team, Vassar had a season-high 54 rebounds and limited Clarkson to only 28. The Brewers shot 49.2 percent (30-of-61) from the field and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from long range.
Molly Stewart led Clarkson with 24 points, while Carly Assimon chipped on 18. The Golden Knights shot 36.1 percent (26-72) from the field and 35.5 percent (11-of-31) from three-point range.
Vassar faces St. Lawrence tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Canton, NY.
