Vassar Men's Tennis Match Notes - Hobart

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 25, 2018) – The Brewers return to action this Saturday at home to take on Liberty League opponent No. 38 Hobart College. The Brewers will look to continue their winning streak coming off 7-2 defeat of St. Lawrence last Friday.

Last Time Out: The Vassar men's tennis team improved to 4-3 in Liberty League play with a 7-2 victory over St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon in Canton. All three doubles points went to Vassar to give them a 3-0 lead heading into singles action. The No. 1 pair of Adam Krueger and Jeremy Auh won 8-3, followed by an 8-5 win for David Gandham and Jamie Anderson at No. 2. In the third spot, Nicolas Demaria and Nick Zuczek claimed an 8-6 win.

A Look At The Brewers (6-11, 4-3 Liberty League):
  • The Brewers are No. 5 in the Liberty League, going 4-3 in conference play and 6-11 overall.
  • Freshman David Gandham leads the team in singles with a 11-9 singles record, including a 5-1 record at the No. 2 position, and a 5-2 Liberty League record.
  • Gandham also earned Rookie of the Week honors from the Liberty League.
  • Junior Jamie Anderson has had a strong season at the No. 4 position with a 7-4 record, posting a 8-6 record overall.
  • Sophomore Jeremy Auh has posted seven singles wins this season, with a 8-6 record at the No. 3 position, good for a .571 conference win percentage.
  • The Brewers have a .571 winning percentage for singles matches in conference, with a collective record of 24-18.
  • Jeremy Auh and Adam Krueger  hold an 11-6 doubles record, with a 10-5 record at the No. 1 position, the best doubles record on the squad, and sit at No. 15 in the ITA Northeast Regional rankings.
  • The Brewers are .810 in the conference in doubles play, and overall are .588 in the No. 1 position and .529 at No. 3. 
A Look At The Statesmen (11-6, 5-2 Liberty League):
  • Hobart is No. 3 in the Liberty League, going 5-2 in the conference and 11-6 overall, as well as No. 12 in the Northeast and No. 38 in the country.
  • Four Statesmen are on a win streak of two or more matches; Jonathan Atwater leads with a win streak of seven matches, and contributing to a solid 9-2 record at No. 3 singles and a 6-1 record in conference play.
  • Hobart holds an impressive .786 record in singles conference action, strongly contributed to by a .882 record at No. 3 and a .706 record at No. 2.
  • Alan Dubrovsky and Jonah Salita are ranked eighth in the Northeast region in doubles with a 16-7 record, as well as No. 13 and No. 25 in singles respectively.
  • In overall doubles play, the Statesmen are .588, with a .667 record in conference doubles action.
  • Walker Anderson and Harry Nichols are undefeated as a pair, going 1-0 at No. 1 and 4-0 at No. 2 doubles.
  • Anderson/Nichols and Dubrovsky/Salita are both in the Liberty League Top 10 Doubles pairs, at No. 2 and No. 8 respectively.
