Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Brewers Start Slow In League Loss To Skidmore

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 11, 2018) – The Vassar women's lacrosse team could not overcome an early 9-1 hole to Skidmore, eventually falling 13-8 to the Thoroughbreds in league action.

Skidmore got off to a fast start as they tallied four goals in the first 3:34. The Brewers got on the board after 10 minutes of action when Storm Sideleau forced her way through the defense to get the goal. But a 5-0 run for the Thoroughbreds would put them ahead by eight just past the midway point of the period.

The Brewers got the next three goals as Tessa Waters, Fiona MacLeod, and Olivia O'Loughlin made it 4-9 with three and a half to go before the break. One final goal from Skidmore brought their lead to 10-4 at halftime.

The second half was a different story as Vassar came out with more energy all around especially on the defensive end. The Brewers held Skidmore to just three goals in the final stanza while forcing 12 second half turnovers.

Neither team scored until the 15:17 mark of the second when Grace Goodwin-Boyd grabbed a pass from MacLeod to make it 5-10. The Thoroughbreds tallied two quick scores to extend their lead to seven.

Vassar closed out the game on a 3-1 scoring run with goals from Sideleau, Goodwin-Boyd, and Waters. But the Brewers came up five goals short as the final buzzer sound.

Macleod finished the day with four points (one goal, three assists) while Waters had three points (two goals, one assist). Both Goodwin-Boyd and Sideleau had two scores and O'Loughlin chipped in one. Amelia Rivoir rounded out the point scorers, with one assist on the day.

Senior Emily Chancey played the full 60 minutes in cage, racking up 12 saves against Skidmore.

Vassar heads on the road for a four-game road trip beginning with No. 20 William Smith on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Geneva.
