ITHACA, NY (March 31, 2018) – The Vassar men's lacrosse team faced their fourth ranked opponent in a row as they fell at No. 19 Ithaca, 9-2, on Saturday afternoon in Liberty League action.
The Brewers held a high-scoring Bomber attack to just nine goals, their second lowest scoring output in a win this season. Junior goalkeeper
Matt Boyd posted a career-high 19 saves in net for the Brewers as he played a stellar game between the pipes.
Cooper Vorel led the defense in front of Boyd, causing a team-high three turnovers on the afternoon.

Michael Mullen for the first score of the game. But the next seven came from the Bombers, building a six-goal lead.
The Brewers defense played tough as it was just 2-1 in favor of the home side after the first 15 minutes. Ithaca then only managed three goals in the second frame, but were able to hold Vassar scoreless to maintain their edge. At halftime, the score stood 5-1 in favor of Ithaca, but the Brewers were down by only four.
The Bombers came out hot in the third stanza, outscoring Vassar 4-1 in the frame. The Brewers chipped into the lead when

Austin Mello with just 2:44 remaining in the third to make it 2-7. Two more Ithaca goals before the end of the third had the score at 9-2 heading into the fourth.
The two sides were scoreless in the final frame as the Bombers secured the 9-2 win over Vassar.
The Brewers held the edge in faceoffs once again (11-4) as Matthew Lowey took all 15 at the "X".
Vassar next has a mid-week matchup with Bard College on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. under the lights on Weinberg Field.
