RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (March 11, 2018) – Junior Jamie Anderson moved his season record to 5-2 Sunday afternoon with a victory at No. 4 singles, but the host Beavers of California Institute of Technology knocked off the Vassar College men's tennis team 8-1 in play from Mission Hills Country Club.

The Beavers started the day with a victory at the top spot of the doubles ladder, as Vassar top pair of Adam Krueger and Jeremy Auh dropped an 8-3 decision. CalTech doubled its lead to 2-0 with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles, as Nicolas Demaria and Nick Zuczek dropped a 8-5 decision to Connor Soohoo and Kevin Yu.

Vassar nearly got on the board at No. 2 doubles, but junior Robin Drummond and sophomore Dom Demeterfi were edged by CalTech's Derek Nguyen and Zixiao Li 8-6 to take all three doubles points. In singles, James Wei of CalTech earned a 6-0, 6-3 over Kruger at No. 2, and the Beavers clinched the match at No. 3, as Nguyen knocked off Auh 6-0, 6-2.

Anderson's win for the Brewers was the final match to finish, but it was worth the wait as the junior posted an exciting 15-13 win in the super-tiebreak. Anderson took the first set 6-3, but Miha Valencic rallied back to force the breaker with a 6-1 second set win.

Vassar will take on Trinity College (CT) Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. PDT in Claremont, CA on the Claremont-Mudd-Scripts courts.
