POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 1, 2018) – The Vassar College men's tennis team will look to get back into the win column this weekend, heading to the Nutmeg State to battle the Bears of the Coast Guard Academy in the last non-conference match before heading to California for Spring Break.

Last Time Out: The Brewer men's tennis team dropped an important non-conference match to No. 27 New York University down in the city. Vassar picked up a nice win at No. 1 doubles thanks to the play from
Adam Krueger and
Jeremy Auh, but couldn't capture a tight 9-8 decision at No. 3 doubles as NYU swept singles action.
A Look At The Brewers (5-3):
- The Brewers are 3-2 on the road this season, with their losses both coming to ranked teams in Williams College and New York University.
- Freshman David Gandham continues to play well for the Brewers, leading the team with eight wins including a 5-0 conference mark.
- Sophomore Jeremy Auh is also undefeated in Liberty League action with a 4-0 mark, while going 5-3 overall in singles play this season.
- Junior Jamie Anderson leads the team in career wins coming into the weekend, chalking up 22 singles victories over the last two and a half seasons.
- Doubles pair Jeremy Auh and Adam Krueger have been stellar together this year, posting seven wins in 10 matches including a 4-1 Liberty League record, along with a 6-2 mark at No. 1 pairs.
- Vassar has won 60.7 percent of its doubles matches this season, along with a stellar 86.7 winning clip in Liberty League play.
- Head coach Alex Wong has posted 42 wins as the head coach of the Brewers, joining the program in the spring of the 2013-14 season.
A Look At The Bears (1-0):
- Coast Guard Academy is opening up its spring portion of the 2017-18 schedule, having knocking off Assumption College back in the fall.
- CGA also competed in the Stonehill Doubles Tournament, along with the Conn. College Invitational and ITA Regionals.
- The Bears have won 73.3 percent of their singles matches this year, led by the 4-0 records from both Adam Bahney and Kyle Fager.
- Mike Melampy is 3-1 on the year as well, playing No. 4 singles in his only dual match of the campaign.
- In doubles, Coast Guard has gone 21-9, posting a winning percentage of 70 percent.
- Kyle Fager and Chris Lansing are 6-0 together for the Bears, while Fager leads the team with an unblemished 8-0 mark in doubles as he's also gone 2-0 with Hunter Shortly.
- Adam Bahney and Tom Hackett played No. 1 doubles in the team's lone dual match, earning an 8-5 win.
- Last year, Vassar knocked off Coast Guard Academy 8-1, and has defeated the Bears in five of the last six meetings dating back to 2011.
Up Next: The Brewers will head out to the Golden Gate State to take on four teams from Sunday, March 11 until Friday, March 16, battling CalTach, Trinity College, Chapman and Case Western Reserve University.
