ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca Bombers (3-1, 1-0 Liberty) started the game on a 6-0 run and never lost the lead in their eventual 68-54 win on Friday night. Ithaca caused 22 Vassar (3-2, 0-1 Liberty) turnovers while scoring 46 points in the paint.
Ithaca flexed their muscle early, and took a 17-11 lead going into the second. The Bombers' did not let up in the second quarter, despite the Brewers making it a four-point game after a layup from
Jackie Cenan (Laguna Beach, CA). Following that layup, Ithaca went on a 9-0 run in the next four minutes before Cenan knocked down a three pointer to break the streak. The Bombers would continue another run to take a 37-20 lead heading into halftime.
Sophie Nick (Denver, CO) picked up nine points in the third, but Ithaca continued to build as high as a 20-point advantage. Vassar outscored Ithaca 21-15 in the fourth, but the deficit proved to be too much as the Bombers cruised to the victory.
Nick led Vassar with 16 points and 13 rebounds while
Isa Peczuh (Wilington, CT) chipped on 13 points with two three pointers and three steals. Ithaca had three players score 12 points with the team shooting 42.5 from the field. Â Â
Vassar continues Liberty League action on Saturday by traveling to William Smith for a 2 p.m. contest.
