Men's Basketball Notes - Clarkson, St. Lawrence

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 3, 2018) – The Brewers are back at home this week for two league games beginning with Clarkson on Friday, January 5 at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, January 6, Vassar will host St. Lawrence at 4:00 p.m. to close out the weekend.

Last Time Out: The Brewers picked up their first win of the season on December 30 as they topped Marymount 91-74. Senior guard Jesse Browne reached 1,000 points for his career as he tallied 23 points in the win to become the 15th Brewer to reach that mark. His bucket with 1:28 remaining in the game was the basket to help him reach the historical plateau. Three other Brewers landed in double figures as Alex Seff poured in 22 points of his own, while Paul Grinde recorded a double-double off 18 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Zach Bromfeld rounded out the top scorers with 10 points on the night. Owen Murray led the Brewers in the assist category with seven helpers on the night.

 
A Look at the Brewers (1-8, 0-2 Liberty League):
  • Senior guard Jesse Browne became the 15th Brewer to record 1,000 career points when he reached the milestone in the win over Marymount.
  • Freshman Zach Bromfeld was named Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Week after averaging 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in two starts.
  • Vassar ranks second in the league with a .477 team field goal percentage.
  • Browne is eighth in the league in scoring averaging 15.7 points per game.

  • Clarkson had won two in a row before falling to Plattsburgh State in their last outing on December 30.
