POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 7, 2017) – The Vassar College women's volleyball team will look to continue its fine form from Wednesday's 3-0 win over Williams College into this weekend, where Vassar will host the five-team Vassar Invitational in the Athletics & Fitness Center. The Brewers will welcome King's College, University of New England, Bates College and Medaille College to town this weekend.

Last Time Out: The Brewers hit .230 for the match against Williams College, adding nine service aces in earning the three-set victory with scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 27-25. Junior
Devan Gallagher continued her torrid start to the season, posting 16 kills over the three-set win, while teammate
Jane McLeod finished with 12 kills, nine digs and six aces. Junior setter
Annie MacMillan handed out 30 assists, and
Jorden Schreeder added 11 digs for the Brewers.
A Look At The Brewers (3-2):
- The Brewers come into the weekend with the Liberty League's second-best hitting percentage, posting a .239 clip so far this season.
- VC currently ranks third in kills per set with 12.76, while the 217 total kills thus far in 2017 leads the conference.
- Vassar has been effective with the serve this year, posting 44 service aces thus far, bested only in the conference by the 50 from St. Lawrence.
- Junior Devan Gallagher currently sits third in hitting percentage with a .303 rate for the season, leading the conference in kills per set by over two with 5.88 per game so far.
- Junior Annie MacMillan leads the conference in assists per set with 10.76.
- Gallagher is fifth in digs per set with 3.35, adding four double-doubles through five matches for the Brewers.
- Sophomore Jorden Schreeder is averaging just 3.0 digs per game, which is 10th best in the Liberty League.
- Freshman Anna Zucchero missed Wednesday's match due to illness, but has still been very strong thus far, ranking seventh in the Liberty League in digs with 3.21 and eighth in service aces per set with 0.57.
- This weekend's four matches will be the only ones played in the AFC this year, while 10 matches will be played in Kenyon Hall this year for VC.
A Look At The Vassar Invitational Teams:
Bates College
- Bates will be opening its season this weekend at the Vassar Invitational, going 11-14 last year while posting a 5-5 mark within the NESCAC.
- The Bobcats lose their top hitter in Chandler McGrath, but return Taylor Stafford-Smith who posted 173 kills.
- Junior Claire Naughton is also back after posting 150 kills, and senior Lisa Slivken added 114 a season ago.
- Sophomore Gabi Eustache finished with 5.01 digs per set, which was among the leaders in the NESCAC.
University of New England
- The Nor'Easters come into the weekend 1-2, that is before their Thursday evening matchup with Emerson at home. UNE lost to Maine Maritime to open the season, followed by a win against Saint Joseph's (ME) and a loss to Southern Maine.
- Paige Simoneau leads the way thus far for UNE, as she has posted 28 kills on 92 attempts, hitting .141.
- Rene Roggenbuck leads the team with a .310 hitting percentage for 18 kills, and Molly Camelo has added 19 terminations.
- Sydney Christiansen and Kristen Falcinelli have shared setting duties, and Katie Marsh has held down libero duties with 32 digs through three matches.
King's College
- The Monarchs have started the season strong, winning their first four matches, all in three sets.
- King's is hitting a lofty .412 on the year so far, while holding teams to -.029 attacking. Rachel Miller paced the Monarchs with 43 kills through four matches.
- Katelyn Shifflett and Jill Korgeski have posted 25 kills apiece, and Maddie Kumm has dished out 80 assists.
- Korgeski and Miller lead the way for King's in the dig department, posting 41 and 25, respectively.
Medaille College
- The Mavericks have started the season 0-5, having dropped their last outing to Buffalo State Wednesday in five sets.
- Bailey Salemi has posted 28 kills for the Mavericks this year, while teammate Melissa Postek has matched her, hitting a slightly higher rate at .151.
- Medaille is hitting .030 as a squad this year, as Savannah Berry comes into the weekend with a team-leading 84 assists.
- Gina Appenheimer has a team-high 68 digs, posting four per set for Medaille.
Against VC Invitational Teams All-Time: The Brewers are 2-2 all-time against the Bobcats of Bates, having not played since a 3-0 win for VC back in 2005. Vassar is 2-0 against UNE, knocking off the Nor'Easters each of the last two seasons. This will be only the second meeting with Medaille, as Vassar fell to the Mavericks 3-1 in 2015. VC is 2-0 against King's College, earning a 2-0 win in 1988 and a 3-0 victory in 2010.
