POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 28, 2017) – The Vassar College field hockey team will look to rebound from a tough 3-2 shootout loss to Hartwick College this Saturday, traveling to the University of Rochester for Liberty League action. Vassar will look to improve on its 1-3 road record this fall, with its only road win coming at Brockport September 9.

Last Time Out: Vassar played its first-ever shootout contest on Wednesday, falling in the 12
th round of overtime play to drop a 3-2 contest to Hartwick College. Freshman
Dara Studnitzer posted both goals in regulation, but neither team could finish in overtime, sending the game to a shootout. After the first two rounds of five shooters both ended with the teams deadlocked, sudden victory attempts were needed, with the Hawks winning it on their 12 try in the extra session.
A Look At The Brewers (6-3, 1-0 Liberty):
- Vassar continues to dominate the penalty corner stat column this season, as Vassar has earned 127 corner attempts to just the 37 from its opposition.
- The Brewers have scored 33 percent more goals in the second half this season than the first, getting 21 tallies in the second period as opposed to just 14 first-half tallies.
- VC has been getting production throughout its lineup, as eight players have scored two or more times this season for the Brewers.
- Vassar has had seven players start all nine games this year, while five others have also earned starting responsibilities at least once.
- Junior Megan Caveny failed to score a goal for the first time in five games on Wednesday.
- Vassar's offense has been consistently strong this season, scoring at least two goals in the last five games.
- The 22 penalty corners in Wednesday's game at Hartwick were the most in a game this season, one more than the 21 earned against Ramapo College September 16.
- VC continues to lead the conference in margin of victory, averaging a 2.89 goal difference for the season. Vassar has taken a league-best 227 shots this season.
- Vassar is one of just two teams that has allowed less than 10 goals for the campaign, joining Rochester on that list.
A Look At The No. 18 Yellowjackets (6-2, 1-0 Liberty):
- Rochester is coming off a road win at William Smith College last weekend, earning a 4-3 overtime victory thanks to a Claire Dickerson goal six minutes into the extra period.
- Twice in that game against William Smith did UR have to make up a one-goal deficit.
- Dickerson leads the team in goals with nine this season, posting a league-leading five game-winning tallies. She also leads the team with 34 shots.
- Olivia Denny, who set up Dickerson for the GWG at Wiliam Smith, has a team-best four assists along with one game-winning goal.
- Rochester is one of the best defensive teams in the country, allowing just nine goals against this season including only two first-half tallies.
- The Yellowjackets have gone 3-1 at home this season, with their only loss coming to Cortland 1-0 September 19.
Against Rochester All-Time: Vassar is 4-15 against the Yellowjackets over the series history, as the two teams have split the last four meetings. All four previous contests were one-goal affairs, with two going to overtime. VC is 0-9 in Rochester all-time, but three of the last four games at Fauver Stadium have been decided by one goal.
