POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 21, 2017) – After finishing their non-conference schedule with a tough loss at Wesleyan, the Vassar College men's soccer team travels to Rochester, New York for their first Liberty League game of the season where they will take on RIT this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out: In the opening few minutes against Wesleyan, the Brewers looked strong connecting pass after pass to create numerous scoring opportunities. However a fast pitch and tired legs saw Vassar lose their momentum in the middle of the first period. Goals by Komar Martinez-Paiz and James Schubauer helped the Cardinals to a decisive 2-0 victory on Tuesday night.
 
A Look At The Brewers (3-3-1)

• Although not playing on Tuesday, sophomore Mattie Mrilk continues to lead the Brewer offense in goals (4), shots (23), and total points (9).
• Mrilk currently ranks 3^rd in the league in shots, 4^th in points and 5^th in goals
• Senior Hayden Van Brewer continues to be an attacking threat behind Mrlik with three goals and two assists.
• Junior Jose Novas and sophomore Kevin Baliat lead the team in assists with three a piece, ranking them top ten in the league in that category.
• The Brewer frontline's effectiveness is amongst the most formidable in the league, currently ranking 4^th in assists per game, 2^nd in corner kicks, 3^rd in total points and 4^th in shots.
• Nationally, Vassar ranks T-45^th in assists per game and T-68^th in total assists.
• On the defensive side of things, the backline continues to be solidified by the presence of juniors Tim Collins and Tyler Gilmore, who are 1^st and 3^rd respectively on the team for minutes played.
• Both Will Marment and Matt Marcelino have each appeared in four games, Marment has four starts while Marecelino has three.

 
A Look At The Tigers (2-3-1)

• Last time out the Tigers battled against Nazareth College to a 0-0 tie.
• Junior Anthony DeFeo leads the Tigers offensively with four goals and eight points, with the former good for third in the league.
• Close behind him are Simon Garno and Gene Sicoli with five points apiece.
• Sicoli's five assists place him 1^st in the league and 35^th in the nation for the category.
• The Tigers have had a tough time at home this season with a record of 1-3.
• The backline of RIT has been tested heavily this season, giving up 10 goals, tied for second for the most goals conceded in the league.
• Their goals against average is currently the second worst in the league at 1.67 goals per game.
• RIT also currently has the second most offside calls in the league with 22
• Asserting their physicality, the Tigers are 3^rd in the league in total fouls.

 
Against RIT All-Time: The Brewers are 4-2-2 all-time against the Tigers dating back to their first meeting in 2003. The last four meetings have been shutouts, with Vassar coming out on top last season on October 14 with a 1-0 win.
