POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 28, 2017)- In a hard-fought battle under the sun, senior
Julia Trudell made her mark offensively with five goals in the Vassar College women's lacrosse team's 14-13 victory over the Clarkson University Golden Knights, Friday afternoon inside Weinberg Field.

Trudell earned a game high of five goals and led the offensive effort with a total of five points, as seven Brewers found the back of the net.
Tessa Waters scored a hat trick to go along with two ground balls, while
Fiona MacLeod scored two goals with two assists and
Amelia Rivoir,
Kelly Pushie, Pheobe Hankins, and
Storm Sideleau each notched one goal.

MacLeod was also solid on the defensive end, picking up a team high of three ground balls, and forcing two turnovers. Waters picked up two caused turnover and
Olivia O'Loughlin earned one
.

Emily Chancey enhanced the win with six saves while Samantha Gladd took the loss with seven, as the Brewers outshot the Golden Knights 28-26.

Leading the way for the Golden Knights was Jaid Baytos who potted three goals. Ashley Flick, Taylor Collins, Abby Collins, and Kate Dillon all collected two goals, while Emma Andrews scored one.

Trudell scored the first two goals of the game after less than five minutes of play. With Vassar up 2-0, Waters went from the draw and claimed the third goal for the Brewers one minute later. Trudell would find her third goal of the half off a feed from MacLeod strengthening Vassar's lead. Though Clarkson would strike back with three consecutive goals before Waters secured her 27
th goal of the season with just under nine minutes remaining. The Golden Knights would rally again scoring three goals and taking the lead for the first time in the game.

Vassar ended the half down 6-5.

The Golden Knights carried their momentum into the second half, where they scored the first goal. The Brewers were hungry for a goal and found the back of the net three times within 25 seconds to regain the lead at the hands of Sideleadu, Trudell and MacLeod. Vassar would find a 4-1 run and lead the half 12-8.

Clarkson found a spark and ended the game with a 6-2 run itself, though the deficit they had built earlier in the game was too deep to come back from.

With this win, the Brewers improve to a record of 7-7 overall and 4-4 in conference.

The Brewers host St. Lawrence University tomorrow at 2 p.m. inside Weinberg Field, as they continue their offensive push tow
