POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 21, 2017) – The Vassar women's basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 52-43 win over Mount Saint Mary in the AFC on Tuesday night.
Ariella Rosenthal led the offense once again with 17 points while also grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four assists.
Isa Peczuh was in the starting lineup for the first time this season and chipped in 11 points off 5-9 shooting from the field.
Julia Roellke was also among the five starters for the first time this season and controlled the glass with 11 rebounds.
The first 10 minutes went back and forth between the two sides. Neither team led by more than four points and the Knights came out with the three-point lead. The Brewers regained the lead in the second quarter after Roellke and Rosenthal hit back-to-back buckets to put Vassar up by one.

Maeve Sussman, and Peczuh all added to the Brewer lead to put their team up by six to end the half.
Vassar maintained their lead out of the break, Peczuh nailed two shots on consecutive possessions to build the lead to 11. The Knights kept within striking distance in the quarter, closing it out down by just nine points.
Rosenthal opened the fourth with five straight points to put the home side up by 14. Over the next five minutes, the Knights went on a 12-2 scoring run to cut the Vassar lead to just four points (43-39). The Brewers stopped the run with points on their next four possessions.
Rosenthal hit a layup,
Ryan DeOrio stole inbound pass and made the fast break layup by herself. And
Sophie Nick knocked down two free throws to give Vassar an eight-point advantage.
The Brewers outrebounded the Knights 39-34 on the night. Vassar shot the ball well hitting 23 of their 54 shots (42.6%).
Next up for Vassar, the team heads to New Paltz to face the Hawks on Tuesday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m.
