POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (October 5, 2017) –The Vassar women's soccer team switches back to conference play on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. against Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.

A Look At The Brewers (6-2-3, 2-0-1 Liberty League)
  • The Brewers tied in a hard-fought battle against No. 16 Stevens on Tuesday night.
  • Senior Amanda McFarland continues to be a leader on the team by adding a strong presence of the defensive and offensive end, scoring the Brewers single goal against Stevens.
  • Junior Sara Seper scored her first goal of the season this past weekend with a rocket from outside of the box against Union.
  • Freshmen Ally Thayer and Ashley Ferry remain strong up top, creating a lot of the offense with a combined 52 shots on goal this season.
  • Junior Emma Lavelle is stellar on the back line, racking in 960 minutes, right behind Fiona Walsh.
  • Freshman Fiona Walsh earned her fourth shutout of the year against Union.
  • Walsh currently owns an impressive save percentage of 0.882 and a goal against average of 0.76.
  • Walsh earned Liberty League and ECAC honors for her fantastic play in helping Vassar go 2-0 last week.
 
A Look At The Thoroughbreds (2-6-1, 0-2-1 Liberty League)
  • The Thoroughbreds are winless in their last six outings, their only non-loss during that span was a 3-3 tie against Clarkson.
  • Junior Emma Basso is tied for sixth in the league with four goals, of which two were game-winners.
  • Three of Basso's goals came against New England College when she scored a hat trick on September 2nd.
  • Junior Courtney Shaw leads her team with three assists.
  • Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Rollins has racked up 51 saves and one shutout this season.
  • Rollins ranks third in the league with 5.67 saves per game.

Against Skidmore All-Time: The Brewers are 6-21-2 versus the Thoroughbreds all-time, dating back to their first meeting in 1988. In last year's matchup, the Brewers sailed away with a 7-1 win at Gordon Field.

Up Next: Vassar will travel to face Liberty League rival Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13.
