Last Time Out: The Brewers came out sprinting in the first few minutes of their game against Union, taking early control of the midfield. Although being pushed back by the boot of Joey Weitzman, most of the scoreless first half was played on Union's side. The second half finally saw the ball hit the back of the net. An excellent cross into the box followed by a short scuffle ended with senior Jose Novas scoring his third goal of the season. Twenty minutes later senior Hayden Van Brewer's cross to sophomore Tyler Gilmore brought the Brewers up 2-0 where the score would remain.

A Look At The Brewers (6-3-1, 3-0 Liberty League)
  • The Brewers dominant performance over Union leaves them the only team in the league with an untarnished conference record.
  • Senior Jose Novas continues his scoring streak, connecting for three goals in the last three matches. His goal against Union places him tied for first on the team in total points (11).
  • Novas also currently leads the league in game winning goals (3), good for 31st in the nation for the category.
  • Senior Hayden Van Brewer continues to play a crucial offensive role, scoring four goals and helping on two more for a total of ten points this season.
  • The Brewer's penetrating offense has forced 56 corner kicks, the second most in the league.
  • After persistently attacking free kicks, junior Tyler Gilmore found the back of the net for the first time in league play against the Dutchmen. His offensive headers were crucial in Brewers' previous championship season and will remain a potent scoring tool during his tenure.
  • Continuing their selfless playing style up top, the Brewers currently rank third in the league with assists (16), helping on nearly all of the 17 goals scored this season.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Will Marment has been impeccable this season, earning two shutouts on his way to earning ECAC and Liberty League defensive player of the week honors.
  • Individually, Marment's save percentage (0.833) and goal against average ranks him third in the league (0.712) for the categories.

A Look At The Thoroughbreds (5-1-3, 1-0-2 Liberty League)
  • Despite dropping a few points early on in the season, last year's league finalists once again look formidable after toppling Elmira in a decisive 3-0 victory.
  • All-Liberty League Second Team player Augustine Okoye remains a formidable attacking asset for the Thoroughbreds, leading the league in total shots (40) and ranking second in goals (6) and total points (14).
  • Currently the Thoroughbreds have the league's second highest number of goals (18) and points per game average (5.33).
  • Skidmore's offense has had the offside flag pulled on them 28 times, more than any other team in the league.
  • Goalkeeper Sebastian Bosch looks strong in goal, ranking second in the league in goals against average (.674), fourth in total saves (41), and second in saves per game (4.56).
  • Bosch's save percentage is good for 13th in the nation (.872).
  • Collectively, Skidmore ranks first in scoring margin (1.33) in the Liberty League, nearly doubling Vassar's (0.70)
  • The Thoroughbreds have made only one of their four earned penalty kicks this season.

Against Skidmore All-Time: The Brewers are 13-10-7 all time against the Thoroughbreds. In the past four seasons, the Brewers have had the edge, going 2-1-2

Up Next: Vassar will continue Liberty League play and take on the Golden Knights of Clarkson, their first of two opponents for the weekend, at home on Friday, October 13th at 4:00 p.m.
