POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (October 26, 2017) – The Vassar men's soccer team earned their fourth shutout of the season yesterday after they played RPI to a 0-0 draw. The tie marks the their third tie in the season and sets them up in prime position to capture a regular season Liberty League title as they take on Ithaca College on Gordon Field this Saturday. This Senior Day game will undoubtedly be one to watch.

Last Time Out: Despite missing a few starters on Wednesday, the Brewers came out firing, dominating possession in regulation on their way to outshooting the Engineers 9-6. RPI found a foothold in the game during the two overtime periods outshooting the Brewers and earning more set piece opportunities however the game remained scoreless after the 110
th minute.
A Look At The Brewers (8-4-3, 5-1-2 Liberty League)
- After securing a playoff spot, the Brewers will look to start their post-season run in first place with a win on Saturday. Currently Vassar sits in second place, just a point behind first and, should the chips fall into place, will take home a regular season title with a victory over Ithaca.
- The Brewers remain undefeated at home and will fight to keep that streak going on Saturday.
- This season, Vassar has on average out shot, out assisted, and out scored their opponents. They've also earned more penalty kicks and corners than their adversaries.
- Senior Jose Novas has been an incredible offensive asset for the Brewers, leading the team in goals (7) and points (18), both of which rank second best in the Liberty League. He also currently leads the league in game-winning goals (4).
- Three Brewers have started and played in every game. Tim Collins, Hayden Van Brewer, and Reid Smith have collectively earned 3937 minutes this season during which they've played key roles in solidifying the backline and midfield.
- The Brewers are tied for third in the league in assists (23), revealing an unselfish team and a versatile roster of players who can contribute to the game, with 11 players contributing to the assist stat.
- Senior Matt Marcelino earned his first shut out while making his seventh start this season. On Wednesday he made five saves for a total of 23 this season.
- Vassar is currently ranked 7th in the east according to the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
A Look At The Bombers (7-7-2, 2-5-1 Liberty League)
- Ithaca will look to bounce back on Saturday after two losses in their most recent league match ups including a 4-1 loss to RIT on Wednesday.
- Following back-to-back losses, the Bomber's playoff chances are over.
- Nonetheless, Ithaca has had quite some success in their offense, scoring in nearly every Liberty League game this season.
- Nate Mansfield leads the attacking line with six goals, one assist, and thirteen total points. Close behind him is Max Barish with five goals.
- Zack Lichtman has been dishing out assists this season, with his ten assists good for first in the league and 11th in the nation. His .667 assists per game average is also impressive, ranking 6th in the nation.
- Ithaca currently ranks first or second in goals, assists, total points and total corner kicks per game for the league.
- In goal, Max Lichtenstein averages a .816 save percentage and a .994 goal against average, ranking him fourth and fifth in the league for the categories respectively.
