POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (October 24, 2017) – The Vassar College women's swimming and diving team will look to continue its good fortunes Wednesday evening against Bard College, as the Brewer are fresh off a 169.5-110.5 victory over UAA foe Brandeis University this last weekend. The Brewers got a ton of contributions from the entire team, including seven victories from the team's freshmen class.

Last Time Out: Vassar was able to pull away against Brandeis University Saturday afternoon, using strong outings from many swimmers for the victory. Freshman
Rhea Randhawa was named as Liberty League Rookie of the Week after winning three individual events, while also helping add a win in the 200 medley relay. Fellow freshman
Brynn Lautenbacher chalked up the victory in the 100 and 200 fly events, while junior
Hayley Schultz doubled her victory total with wins in the 100 breast and 100 freestyle swims.
A Look At the Brewer:
- Vassar's start was an exciting one as it showcased the depth and strength of this year's newcomers across all four strokes.
- Freshman Angharad Healey had one of the most impressive swims of the day for the women, cruising to a victory in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:09.38.
- Hayley Schultz chalked up a personal best in the 100 freestyle on Saturday, improving her previous personal best by 2.6 percent with the 58.06.
- Freshman Shannon Schrope earned the win in the 200 breaststroke for VC, swimming a 2:34.98 Saturday.
- Junior Kael Ragnini continued to shine in the freestyle events for VC, as she earned victories in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.69. She also posted a win in the 500 free with a 5:29.33.
- Freshman Brynn Lautenbacher was big for VC on Saturday, earning 22 points with two wins and a second-place finish, also helping the Brewers pick up the 200 medley relay.
- Illinois native Ellie Kennedy-Wood earned a second and third-place finish for Vassar, taking second in the 100 fly and third in the 200 fly.
A Look At The Raptors:
- Bard comes to town having dropped a 109-51 decision to Purchase College last week.
- The Raptors have just six swimmers on the roster this year, though there is some talent on the team.
- Graduate student Kate Brashear earned a win in the 50 free with a time of 29.34.
- Gigi Hsueh chalked up personal bests in the 50 free with a 34.96, while also swimming 1:39.12 for a personal best in the 100 breast.
- Abigail Townend earned a pair of wins in the 100 backstroke (1:09.49) and the 1000 freestyle (13:02.90).
- Brashear also picked up the victory in the 100 fly with a time of 1:13.61.
Up Next: Vassar will head to Saratoga Springs, NY November 4 at 1 p.m. to take on Skidmore College in its next meet.
