POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (October 24, 2017) – The Vassar College men's swimming and diving team is back in the pool Wednesday afternoon, taking on Bard College in action from Kresge Pool. The Brewers had strong individual performances in their last time out, but ultimately fell to Brandeis University 175-106.

Last Time Out: The Brewers started strong with a win in the 200 medley relay against Brandeis, but the depth of the Judges won out in the non-conference loss. Senior
Jonah Strand was named Liberty League Swimmer of the Week thanks to his three victories individually, while freshman
Max White also earned Rookie of the Week in the conference for his two individual wins and a victory in a relay.
Matthew Imiolek also captured the victory in the 50 freestyle, setting a personal best by over .80 seconds.
A Look At The Brewers:
- The best swim of the day for the Brewers on Saturday possibly came from Jonah Strand, who posted a 1:00.34 in the 100 breast to earn the victory.
- Freshman Max White was also very strong in the 100 butterfly, chalking up a 53.36 for the win as well.
- Matthew Imiolek swam a 22.43 in the 50 free, which was a 3.3 percent improvement on his previous personal best, a giant gain for the sophomore in swimming's quickest race.
- Davon Dowie posted a personal best in the 50 free as well for the Brewers, swimming a 25.88.
- Dowie also improved his personal best in the 100 free by 1.6 percent, swimming a 1:00.42 in the event.
- White was a double winner for Vassar, as he took the victory in the 100 freestyle as well.
- Strand picked up a win in the 200 IM as well for Vassar, swimming a 2:02.22, adding the victory in the 200 breast with a 2:13.26.
- Sophomore Jordan Kalina finished second in the 1000 freestyle, swimming a very strong 10:40.21.
A Look At The Raptors:
- The Raptors are coming a victory against Purchase College last week, as Bard picked up a 114-37 victory.
- Dio Tzortzis was a standout for the Raptors, as he earned victories in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle events.
- Tzortzis swam a 1:48.26 in the 200 free, while posting a 5:01.41 in the 500 free event.
- Freshman Tyler Mar also earned the win in the 100 free, as he chalked up a 50.86 in the event.
- Fellow newcomer Kristof Szabo swam a 2:10.95 in the 200 IM to earn the victory in that event, while senior captain Derek Low won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.88.
- Senior Kevin Barbosa was a double winner as well, swimming a 59.10 to win the 100 fly and a 24.82 to take the 50 free.
Up Next: Vassar is back in the pool next Saturday afternoon, November 4 at 1 p.m., traveling to Skidmore College for action with the Thoroughbreds.
