Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Vassar's Second-Half Rally Falls Short At Clarkson

POTSDAM, NY (April 16, 2016) — Five Brewers found the back of the net, as the Vassar College women's lacrosse team lost to Clarkson University on the road Saturday, 13-9.

With the loss, the Brewers drop to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while the Golden Knights improve to 11-2 and 5-1 in the Liberty League.

The Brewers outscored the Golden Knights 5-4 in the second half, but their comeback bid fell just short.

Storm Sideleau, who leads Vassar with 30 goals on the season, scored a hat trick to lead the team. Isabelle Goldstein and Kim Mulvehill netted two goals apiece, while Phoebe Hankins and Julia Trudell each had one.

Defensively, Sideleau and Goldstein picked up three ground balls apiece, while Trudell won a team-high three draw controls.

Goalkeeper Kristin Caolo took the loss with three saves, while Samantha Gladd earned the win with five, as the Golden Knights outscored the Brewers 21-19.

Ashley Flick paced Clarkson with four goals, while Christine Wright added three goals and three assists. Kate Dillon had two goals and four assists, while Taylor Collins, Emma Jeffery, Casey Shannon and Stephanie Lynch each tallied one goal.

Clarkson opened scoring two minutes into the game, but Vassar tied it up at one four minutes later, thanks to a goal from Mulvehill.

The Golden Knights responded with two more goals, but again, the Brewers had an answer with two goals of their own, courtesy of Sideleau and Mulvehill.

Clarkson outscored Vassar 6-1 to end the half, with Trudell breaking up the scoring with her 21st goal of the season.

The Brewers refocused during halftime and came out ready to roll with the first three goals. Hankins notched her fifth of the season before Sideleau scored back-to-back for the Brewers.

Clarkson outscored Vassar 4-2 to end the half, with Goldstein breaking up the scoring with consecutive goals, her 21st and 22nd.

The Vassar women's lacrosse team returns to Poughkeepsie for the final two home games of the regular season. First game is Friday, April 22 at 4 p.m. against Rochester Institute of Technology, and the second is Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m. against University of Rochester.
