Last Time Out: The Vassar women defeated Bard College on Wednesday, October 26 to open the season, earning a 137-67 win over the Raptors. On that day, Vassar saw Sammy Stone earn a pair of wins in the 200 yard free and the 500 free, while Cunningham also chalked up a win in the 100 butterfly. Meg Harrington chalked up a win in the 50 free as well for the Brewers with a time of 27.01.

A Look At The Brewers:

  • VC returns its most decorated swimmer in program history in Julia Cunningham, who finished fifth at the NCAA Championships last year in the 200 butterfly. She also earned invitations to the NCAA Championships in the 400 IM and 200 breast stroke.
  • Last week against Bard, Kael Ragnini chalked up a win in the 1000 freestyle, as she swam an 11:21.04, over 40 seconds better than the runner-up.
  • Vassar finished last season with a flurry of school records, breaking five at the UNYSCSA Championships, while 33 members swam lifetime bests at the event.
  • The Brewers' previously scheduled meet at New Paltz next week has been postponed, and instead the Brewers will head to the United States Merchant Marine Academy Memorial Invitation on Saturday, November 19.
  • Vassar's roster is a hodgepodge of lots of different states, as VC has 10 states represented on its 16-person roster. Only California, New Jersey, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts have multiple swimmers.
  • Head coach Lisl Prater-Lee is in her 23rd season this year for the Brewers, having joined the staff in 1993.
  • Of the members on the team now, Vassar has three swimmers in Cunningham, Stone and Hayley Schultz that have set a school record for the Brewers in at least one event.

A Look At The Thoroughbreds:

  • Skidmore comes into Saturday's match with a 1-1 record on the season, falling to St. Lawrence University 117-76 before topping SUNY Potsdam 163-125.
  • Against Potsdam, the 2000 medley relay team earned a win in a time of 1:49.27.
  • Meredith Wagner earned a win in the 1000 free for Skidmore, swimming an 11:59.32, while Elizabeth Levy swam a 5:42.00 in the 500 free for a victory.
  • Jasmin Rendon chalked up her first individual win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.66.
  • Skidmore's diving team saw Hannah Krall earn the 1-meter diving event with a 171.60, as Rachel Adamsky picked up the 3-meter with a 156.85.
  • Claire Stetten touched in first in the 100 fly for Skidmore against Potsdam after swimming a 1:07.39.
  • Head coach Jill Greenleaf is in her 14th season as the head coach of the Thoroughbreds, earning a B.A. from Swarthmore College in 1999.

Against Skidmore: Last season, the Brewers knocked off Skidmore College 171-98 thanks to great swimming from Cunningham, who earned the win in the 200 butterfly, while Stone chalked up wins in the 200 and 500 free. Mia Moraru also broke the school record for diving that day in the 3-meter, 6-dive event.

Up Next: Vassar welcomes in nationally ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to Kresge Pool next Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in action from Walker Field House.
