Last Time Out: The Vassar men's team, had a huge day in the pool during their last outing on Saturday against Skidmore College. Anthony Walker is continuing to pick up right where he left off, winning big in the 200 free, the 100 freestyle, and the 200 butterfly. Walker was not the only Brewer from the men's team that had a big meet. Junior Jonah Strand swam into first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.05.

A Look At The Brewers:

  • Jordan Kalina had a decisive win in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:37.52 and also won the 500 free with a first place finish with a time of 5:05.96.
  • Anthony Walker placed first in three individual events. He finished up the 200 yard free with a time of 1:49.10, the 200 yard butterfly with a 2:02.48, and the 100 yard free with a time of 49.65.
  • Ian LaBash and Jose Rojas are also doing well in the 200 Free to nicely compliment Walker, making this one of the Brewer's strongest events.
  • Lukas Harries and Matthew Imiolek swam very well in the 50 Free placing 1st and 2nd, with times of 22.99 and 23.61 respectively. Harries and Imiolek also helped top the 400 freestyle relay.
  • Jonah Strand chalked up points for the VC men with a first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.05. Luke Morrison placed second in the event, with a time of 2:09.98.
  • Diver Michael Deiner scored 177.90 in the 1-meter diving event, placing second. Connor Martin scored 138.07 and placed third in the event.
  • The Brewers will surely be using their dominant win over the Thoroughbreds as motivation going into Saturday.
  • This meet will be VC's third Liberty League contest on the season
  • Walker was honored in the Liberty League Performers of the Week release, along with five other Brewers across sports.
  • Head coach Lisl Prater-Lee is in her 23rd season this year for the Brewers.

A Look At The Engineers:

  • Last weekend the Engineers had a later comeback against Worcester Polytechnic Institute after winning a very close race in the 200 Free Relay.
  • Not only did RPI's first team win the race their second team also pulled out a third place finish just behind WPI's first team, which shows you can not sleep on any of their teams.
  • RPI is now 3-0 in dual meets on the season, and is on a 12-meet winning streak over three years.
  • The Engineers will surely be looking for Richard Dong to have another strong performance this upcoming Saturday. Last weekend Dong won both the 100 (59.39) and the 200 Breaststroke (1:11.88).
  • Dan Hendricks swam to victory in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.54 and Trevor Maxfield followed closely behind with a time of 4:58.82. Both of these times are at least seven seconds better than VC's 500 free against Skidmore.
  • RPI's Mavin Liu came out on top of the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.57.
  • Diver Alex Chused won both the 3-meter event (252.00) and the 1-meter event (272.65) against WPI.
  • Head coach Shannon O'Brien is in her 22nd season as the head coach of the Engineers, earning a B.A. from Ithica College in 1993 and an M.A. from RPI in 2005. She has an overall record of 237-176 in 21 years.

Against RPI Last Year:  Last year the Engineers toppled the Brewers 194.5-100.5 with 11 event victories. The Brewers will surely be tested this weekend against a strong RPI team.

Up Next: Vassar will be traveling to Kings Point for the United States Merchant Marine Academy Memorial Invitational next Saturday at 11 a.m.
