ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (October 26, 2016) – The Vassar College women's swimming and diving team opened the lid on the 2016-17 season Wednesday evening, besting conference foe Bard College in a dual meet with a score of 137-67.
The Brewers had many wins on the night, and also posted strong starting times for the opening race of the season. Sophomore
Kael Ragnini finished first in the 1000 free with a time of 11:21.04, while fellow sophomore
Sammy Stone chalked up a win in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.13.

Meg Harrington started her season strong, as she took the 100 yard free with a time of 59.10, and teammates
Cali Corbett and
Margaret Reisert were right behind her after registering times of 1:01.96 and 1:12.42, respectively.
Ragnini picked up the double in the 100 back, as she posted a victory with a time of 1:07.20, and senior
Julia Wieczorek was third with a 1:12.60. Stone also won her second event of the day in the 500 free, swimming a 5:17.75, followed by senior
Julia Cunningham in second place with a 5:27.57.
Kayla Schwab won the 100 breast stroke for the Brewers, as she exhibitioned to a time of 1:19.79, and teammate Abby Kirsch was second in 1:21.50.
Emily McDaniels also picked a third-place finish in the 100 breast, coming in at 1:22.45.
Cunningham earned a win in the 100 fly with a 59:33, while freshman teammate
Laura Vidano debuted with a second-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 1:06.56. Senior
Elisielle Wilson competed in her first collegiate diving event on Wednesday, and finished third in the 1-meter diving event with 83.95 points.
Vassar will return to the pool next weekend at 1 p.m. as it hosts the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College in action from Kresge Pool in the home opener.
