POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 12, 2015) - The Vassar men's tennis team will head west for Southern California to play a quartet of dual matches from March 16-21.
Last Time Out Vassar dropped a pair of decisions to
MIT and
Babson College this past weekend to move to 4-5 overall in duals this season.
On Last Year's Trip Vassar went 1-3 on last year's excursion to the Golden State, starting off the trip with a 5-4 victory over Chapman University before falling in the next three matches to California Lutheran, the University of Rochester and Whittier College.
Competition The Brewers will face three of the same four teams from last season's spring break slate, starting with Chapman, Cal Lutheran and Whittier College. The Brewers will then face George Fox to wrap up the trip on March 21.

A Look at the PanthersChapman University is currently 2-3 overall and are ranked 5
th in the West region. The Panthers are 1-1 in their past two matches against Bowdoin (L, 2-7) and Rochester (W, 5-4) on March 8 and 10 (respectively).
Chapman is led in singles by a pair of Justin Thompsons. Freshman Justin P. Thompson enters the week with a 5-3 record, while senior Justin Thompson currently holds a 6-5 record. The team is 23-23 overall.
The pairing of Hunter Morris/Justin Thompson hope to turn their fortunes around this season in the No. 1 spot for Chapman doubles, as they currently hold a 1-4 record. Sam Mitteldorf/Justin P. Thompson and Brett Buford/Charlie Werman have had more success thus far, both sporting records of 3-2. Chapman doubles are 9-11 overall.

A Look at the Kingsmen Cal Lutheran comes into the week with a 4-6 overall record. After starting 4-2, the Kingsmen have dropped their last four matches. The team is currently ranked 25
th in the nation by the ITA.

A Look at the Poets Whittier College has struggled as of late, dropping its last three matches to fall to a record of 1-4. The lone win on the season for the Poets came against Caltech in a 7-2 win on Feb. 21. Even with their disappointing start, they are currently ranked 23
rd by the ITA.

A Look at the Bruins George Fox University heads south to California with a 7-1 overall record. The Bruins are coming off six consecutive wins, the most recent coming against Lewis & Clark in a 5-4 victory on March 8. George Fox's only loss on the season came against Whitman on February 21
st in a 5-4 decision.
The squads have not met in dual match play in recent years.
Looking AheadVassar will enter an extended hiatus from competition when the team returns from California, before traveling to face New York University in a dual match on Saturday, April 11 at 1:00 pm.
