What to Look For:
Vassar (3-3) will host its first match of the spring season at Walker on Saturday, looking to get back in the win column for the first time since downing Clark University 5-0 on February 7. The Brewers dropped duals to TNCJ and Skidmore in their previous two dual matches.

Last Time Out:
Vassar dropped its first Liberty League match of the 2014-15 season on February 21, falling to Skidmore College 8-1 on the road at the Williamson Sports Center. The Thoroughbreds earned a 3-0 edge in the doubles matches, and took five of six singles bouts to secure the victory.

A Look at the Coast Guard:
The Bears will open their 2015 spring slate on Saturday, last competing on October 13, 2014 in a 7-2 dual match victory over Nichols. The Coast Guard won tis only other dual match during the fall, downing Holy Cross 6-1 to open the year on September 8.

The Bears sport a fairly young roster devoid of any seniors, but are led by a four-man junior class. Juniors Mark Guentert and Robert Renfrow both saw action as the No. 1 singles players for the Bears, while Guentert and junior Weston Fortna were the squad's No. 1 doubles team.

Last Meeting:
The teams last met this past fall season on Saturday, October 4 at the Connecticut College Invitational. In singles action, the Bears held a 3-2 edge on the Brewers, with junior Daniel Cooper (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) and freshman Alex Riccio (Portland, CT/Portland) both able to pick up wins. The teams were 1-1 head to head in doubles, as Cooper and sophomore Alexander Luckmann (Berkeley, CA/Head-Royce School) were able to defeat the Coast Guard's No. 1 pair of Mark Guentert and Weston Fortna 8-4.

In the Polls:
The Vassar men's tennis team was voted to finish second in the Liberty League in the preseason coaches poll released by the conference offices last week. The Brewers received 41 points and one first place vote to claim the No. 2 spot, while defending champion Skidmore earned the top spot in the poll with 48 total points and six first place votes.

Vassar will have a doubleheader weekend starting on Friday, March 6 when the team travels to Cambridge, MA to face MIT at 4:00 pm. The Brewers will then play Babson College the next day in Babson Park, MA at 5:00 pm.
