SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (February 21, 2015) – The Vassar men's tennis team dropped its first Liberty League match of the 2014-15 season Saturday afternoon, falling to Skidmore College 8-1 on the road at the Williamson Sports Center. The Thoroughbreds earned a 3-0 edge in the doubles matches, and took five of six singles bouts to secure the victory. VC now stands at 3-3 on the year in duals, while Skidmore improves to 2-1.

Kit Sanderson and Nick Tong picked up a 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles over junior Daniel Cooper (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) and sophomore Alexander Luckmann (Berkeley, CA/Head-Royce School), while Kaiyuen Leung and Jonah Epstein earned a 8-3 decision over juniors Christian Phelps (Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire Memorial) and Evan Udine (Delray Beach, FL/Bocan Raton Community) at the No. 2 spot.

Sophomores Nick Litsky (St. Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Prep. School) and Juan Felipe Laso (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio American De Quito) gave Steven Koulouris and Lucas Pickering a run in the No. 3 match, but they held on for the 8-5 win to clinch the sweep.

Litsky took the lone match of the day for the Brewers in the No. 1 singles bout, securing a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory over the Northeast's No. 18 ranked player Kit Sanderson. Skidmore secured five wins in matches 2-6 to finish 8-1 in the team scoring.

VC will be back in action for its first home meet of the spring season on Saturday, February 28 when the team hosts the United States Coast Guard Academy at Walker Field House. First serve is slated for 1:00 pm.
