Mia Moraru in the 3-meter diving event as the Brewers topped SUNY-New Paltz 163-128 on October 30.
Last Meeting: The Vassar women's swimming team downed Skidmore 175-109 in its first home dual meet of the 2014-15 season on November 8. The Brewers were fueled by 12 event victories out of the possible 16, and never trailed in the meet after jumping out to an early lead.
Meet Format: Vassar will compete head-to-head against the Skidmore in 16 events.
A Look at the Thoroughbreds (1-1): Skidmore is coming off a 112-105 dual meet victory over SUNY-Potsdam last weekend. The Thoroughbreds dropped their season opener to St. Lawrence on October 30 68-118.
Freshman Olivia Morfit picked up a pair of wins for the Thoroughbreds against the Bears, touching in first in the 500 (5:59.38) and 1000-yard freestyle (12:17.80). She was followed closely by teammates Ellen Sweder and Rebecca Guertin, who finished 2-3 in both events.
Yookee Roh was also a dual winner, placing first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.61) and teaming with Erin Donovan, Caroline Tuttle and Claire Stetten for first in the 200-yard medley relay. Donovan posted her second win of the day in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.96), edging out Skidmore rookie Claire Stetten (1:06.04), who touched in second.
Diver of the Week: Mia Moraru earned her first career selection as the Liberty League Diver of the Week after setting a new school record against New Paltz on October 30. Diving in just her third collegiate meet, Moraru set a school record of 245.24 in the 3-meter, 6-dive event in a 163-128 dual meet victory over the Hawks. Moraru also picked nine points for VC with a victory in the 1-meter dive event (221.63). She is the first team member to earn the distinction for Vassar this season.
Tops in the Nation: Vassar was tabbed as the 31
st ranked team in Division III according to
