What To Look For
Coming off of a 3-0 sweep of The Sage Colleges on Wednesday, October 20th, the Brewers will be coming out with a lot of energy. Vassar's continued pattern of three-set matches may continue as they plan to pack a punch and come out strong against the Lady Jeffs this weekend.

A Look At The Lady Jeffs (16-2, 6-2 NESCAC)
The Amherst women's volleyball team is coming into Friday's contest on a 4 game winning streak, having bested Hamilton, Colby-Sawyer, Bowdoin, and Massachusetts-Boston since their last loss on October 9th to Middlebury in Vermont.

The Lady Jeffs' senior libero, Katie Warshaw was named the NESCAC Player of the Week this week after an outstanding performance against the Bowdoin Polar Bears, when Amherst pulled out a 3-2 victory over their league rival where she posted 38 digs and 7.6 digs/set - the best match performance. She led the team to 3-0 week - over the course of which she totaled 64 digs. She now leads the conference with 343 total digs and sits in the No. 2 spot for digs/set with 5.28.

Against Amherst All-Time
The Brewers have a 2-1 record against Amherst all-time, having beaten them at the last two competitions, both at Vassar Invitational Tournaments: in 1995 the Brewers bested the Lady Jeffs 2-1 and in 1996 3-1. Vassar lost to Amherst at their first match up back in 1996 at the MIT Invitational 1-3.

A Look at the Cardinals (4-9, 11-6 NESCAC)
The Cardinals are coming into the weekend on a six game losing streak, having dropped matches to Hamilton, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Coast Guard, Tufts University, and Connecticut College since their last win - 3-0 against Trinity College in late September.

Against Wesleyan All-Time
Vassar has a 4-4 split record with Wesleyan University in program history. Most recently, Vassar had a 3-1 win at home against the Cardinals in 2011. The next four matches, two in 2009, and one each in 2008 and 2007, were losses for the Brewers - 1-3, 0-3, 0-3, 2-3 respectively. However, the first three times the Brewers saw Wesleyan were 3-0 wins for Vassar - each at the Vassar Invitational Tournament.

A Look at the Pioneers (4-18, 0-8 NEWMAC)
The Pioneers will be going toe to toe with the Brewers in attempts to end their six game losing streak, as they've fallen to Wellesley, Framingham State, Plymouth State, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Trinity all in a row this season.

Smith saw their last win against John Jay College who they swept 3-0 at the beginning of October. Sophomore defensive specialist, Sakura Tamaki collected 13 digs on the night, senior setter Mei-Li Smith racked up 14 assists and 3 service aces, and sophomore middle blocker Jenna Rubin posted six blocks and six kills leading the Pioneers to sets scoring 25-13, 25-13, 25-22.

Against Smith All-Time
The Brewers have a 14-11 winning record against Smith. The Brewers swept the Pioneers twice in last year's 2014 season, once at the Seven Sisters Tournament, the other at the Springfield Invitational.

Heavy Hitters
At the Sage match, the Brewers hit a .203 percentage on the match - marking the fourth straight competition of the season that VC posted a number over .200. The Brewers hit a .400 during the first set thanks to strong performances out of Devan Gallagher, junior captain Gabby Miller (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) and sophomore Alex Sams (Los Angeles, CA/Beverly Hills) in the front row.

Gallagher the Great
At women's volleyball last contest, against Sage, freshman hitter Devan Gallagher (San Francisco, CA/Urban School of San Francisco), racked up 14 kills on 26 attempts - putting her percentage on the night at .500 - a match-best this season.

Hallum Holiday
This week, senior women's volleyball captain, Chloe Hallum (Olympia, WA/Olympia) was Vassar's Featured Athlete of the Week.

On an Roll
Freshman setter, Annie MacMillan (Colorado Springs, CO/Coronado) was named to the Liberty League Honor Roll in this week's weekly league honors after a killer performance against Steven's last week where she posted a career-high 33 assists(8.25/set), posted nine digs (2.25/set), put up three assisted blocks and drained two service aces in the win, all without a single ball handling error and incrediblyburyingtwo balls on five attack attempts.

Up Next
The Brewers will play next on their home court for the last time this season against New Paltz on October 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Kenyon Hall. This is women's volleyball senior night and the team will honor their two departing teammates, Chloe Hallum and Paige Benson (Elk Grove, CA/Bradshaw Christian School).
