Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 24, 2015) – Visiting Clarkson University snapped a six-game losing streak to the Vassar College women's basketball team, using a big first half to earn a 90-68 win over the Brewers in Liberty League play from the Athletics and Fitness Center Saturday.

The Golden Knights built as much as a 30-point edge in the first half, thanks to the 20 points from Cara Manfredi, and took a 51-25 lead into intermission. The Brewers (7-9, 2-5 Liberty) outscored Clarkson University 42-39 in the second half of a game that was riddled with fouls and foul shots, as the two teams combined for 52 total fouls and 63 total free throws.
The standout of the day for the Brewers was Serafini, as she posted a career-high 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, grabbing nine rebounds and making 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Junior
Caitlin Drakeley (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) struggled from the floor, making just three of her 17 shots, but was solid at the line going 9-of-10 to chalk up a team-high 16 points.
Freshman
Ariella Rosenthal (Mill Valley, CA/Redwood) dealt with foul trouble, but finished with 13 points and six rebounds, while
Allyson Pemberton (Weston, WA/Weston) added 11 points and seven caroms. Moon added seven points, four boards and three assists for the Brewers, who made 34.9 percent (22-63) from the field on the day. VC also won the rebounding battle, 47-38.
Manfredi ended with a game-high 24 points for the Golden Knights, while Ashley Loggins posted a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Stephanie Grobe chalked up 16 points and five rebounds, and Devin Sorell and Madison Shea contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively. The win for the Golden Knights over VC was their first since February 7, 2011, while also representing the first time since February 6, 2010 that CU has won in Poughkeepsie.
The Brewers return to action Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. for Liberty League action with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
