POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 19, 2014) – The Vassar men's swimming and diving team will swim the final meet at Kresge Pool for the 2014-15 season this Wednesday, January 21 when the Brewers host Montclair State for a dual meet at 6:00 pm.

Game Coverage: (Live Video) What to Look For: The Brewers (3-3) will be back in competition form on Wednesday, getting the opportunity to go above .500 in head-to-head meets for the first time since November 15.
Last Time Out: The Vassar men's swimming & diving team edged Trinity College 145-125 on January 13 in the team's first meet since December. Returning from a weeklong training trip in California less than 24 hours prior, the Brewer men competed neck and neck with the Bantams throughout the day before pulling away in the meet's final events to earn the victory.
A Look at the Red Hawks (2-8): Montclair State has been plenty busy in the pool during the 2014-15 season, swimming 14 days of competition since kicking off the season on October 8, 2014. Though the Red Hawks have stumbled in dual meets this year with a 2-8 record, the squad is 1-1 in their past two meets since returning from winter break.
In the team's last meet against Rowan on January 17, junior Alan Buob took first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.24. Freshman Devon D'Agnosta had the same placing in the 200 individual medley recording a time of 2:08.23. D'Agosta was also second in the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 57.27 and 2:05.17, respectively. Freshman Brendan Turber was second in the 50 freestyle (23.71) and freshman Samuel Mitchell was second in the one-meter diving event with a score of 137.25 points.
Youth Movement: Montclair State features a very young roster, as the team currently sports 13 freshmen and no seniors in 2014-15. The Red Hawks are led by their lone junior on the squad Alan Buob and sophomore Dan Knepple, both of which are team captains.
D1 Competition:Montclair State has swam head-to-head against several Division I opponents this season, resulting in a 0-5 record in those meets. The Red Hawks have matched up with Seton Hall University, Adelphi University, Saint Peter's University, Manhattan College and NJIT this year.
Previous Encounter:Last season, the two squads met for a dual meet in Montclair, NJ where the Red Hawks came away with a 156-122 victory. Then-freshman
Anthony Walker (Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) broke his own school record in the 200 yard butterfly at the meet with a time of 1:59.57. Walker would bring the record time down to 1:56.89 later on last season. He took second place in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:05.67.
Walker also won the 100 yard butterfly (53.55) as well as the 200 yard medley relay (1:44.63) with
Chris Cerutti (Mount Kisco, NY/Fox Lane),
Matt Weiss (Florence, MA/Northamton) and
Greg Cristina (Suffield, CT/Suffield). The Brewers earned major points in the 200 yard breaststroke as they took the one, two and four spots in the finishing lineup.
Luc Amodio (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) took first (2:21.23) and was followed by
Patrick Lai (Chatham, NJ/Newark Academy) (2:24.19) and Weiss (2:35.60).
Next Up: The Vassar swimming and diving teams will travel to Willimantic, CT this weekend to compete against Roger Williams University in a tri-meet.
