Box Score HOBOKEN, NJ (September 7, 2014) – Junior Danielle Tyrrell scored in the 75
th minute, as SUNY Cortland hung on to top Vassar 1-0 Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Stevens Engineering Cup. Despite outshooting the Red Dragons 21-11 in the contest and forcing sophomore goalie Rachel Axt to make eight saves, the Brewers could not find the back of the net. VC drops to 1-2 on the year with the loss, while Cortland improves to 1-2 on the season with the victory.

Chloe Wheeler (Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake) and junior
Lucy Brainerd (Littleton, CO/Heritage) both tied to record a game-high five shots in the contest, but neither could convert the elusive goal opportunities for the VC. Junior goalkeeper
Emma Nichols (Lexington, MA/Lexington) recorded five saves on the day for the Brewers.
Stevens sealed the tournament victory after defeating NYU 1-0 in the day's second game. The offensive and defensive MVPs of the tournament went to Stevens' Ann Heine and Lindsey Mahnken (respectively).
Vassar will have an opportunity to bounce back on Wednesday, September 10 when the team travels to face Wesleyan at 4:30 pm.
