Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 6, 2014) – The Vassar College women's volleyball team finished play Saturday afternoon in the Vassar College Invitational, but couldn't pick up a win in falling to Ramapo College and New Paltz.

The Brewers lost in five sets to the Roadrunners with scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-14, 26-28 and 15-6, while VC dropped a three-set match to the Hawks, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-16. New Paltz earned the team title with an unblemished 4-0 weekend, while MIT was the runner-up with a 3-1 mark. New Paltz's Katy Herbst was voted as Tournament MVP, joining teammate Becca Borquist on the All-Tournament Team.

Vassar's Clara Cardillo (San Francisco, CA/Bay School of San Francisco) was honored on the squad, while Nicole Gagnier (MIT), Larysa Iwaskiw (Ramapo) and Ashleigh Scozzari (Mount Saint Vincent) also picked up the accolade.

Ramapo 3, Vassar 2
In the first match of the day for the Brewers, Vassar College played its fourth straight five-set match, but for the third time was not able to earn the win. VC rallied from being down a set to earn a 25-19 win in game two, thanks to .310 hitting and 13 total kills.

Ramapo jumped back on top after three games, but once more the Brewers toughed out a 28-26 thrilling game four to send the match the distance. Down 26-25, Vassar posted three straight points, including kills from Taylor Mosley (Rowlett, TX/Parish Episcopal School) and Paige Lerman (San Rafael, CA/Jewish Comm. Of The Bay).

In the fifth set though, Vassar College trailed the entire set, as Ramapo got five kills from Amanda Rose to pull away. Cardillo led all Brewer scorers with 13 kills, hitting at a 13-5-31 clip (.258), while Mosley added to her double-digit kill performances with 11 kills and 12 digs.

Senior Marie Pitre (San Dimas, CA/St. Lucys Priory) added eight kills, and Sophia Tiajoloff (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) posted 35 assists, nine digs and three aces. Junior libero Chloe Hallum (Baltimore, MD/Olympia) chalked up 22 more digs, posting her fourth 20-plus dig contest. Iwaskiw posted a game-high 24 kills for Ramapo.

New Paltz 3, Vassar 0
The tournament champion Hawks posted 13 aces and received serve at over an 88 percent rate in the day's finale, helping to knock off the Brewers in straight sets. Down two sets, Vassar College led in the third set but a 9-2 run midway through the set put the Hawks up for good.

Mosley topped the kill chart for Vassar College, posting eight terminations, while Cardillo added six kills on only 13 swings. Hallum added 13 digs to her season tally, and sophomore Sierra Tobin (Santa Cruz, CA/Santa Cruz) posted seven digs. The Brewers hit .081 (22-15-86) on the evening, but 11 service errors and the strong serving from NP was too much to overcome.
