POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 29, 2014) – The Brewers look to continue their winning ways at home Tuesday afternoon, as the Hawks of Hartwick College comes to Weinberg Field at 4 p.m. for a non-conference tussle. Vassar College has won its last three outings, and also has gone 6-0 on its home turf this season. The Brewers are coming off a 2-1 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this past week in their Liberty League opener, as VC netted two first-half goals and hung on for the win.

What To Look ForThe Brewers have been very solid on home turf this season, while the Hawks have struggled away from their home site of Wright Stadium. Vassar College comes into today game undefeated at Weinberg Field in 2014, while Hartwick is 0-5 in true road contests this season. Hartwick will be a tough test though for the Brewers, as the Hawks earned a 2-1 win over Brockport, a team VC knocked off 1-0. Hartwick has also played a solid schedule so far this year, but comes in 0-3 against Liberty League to date, falling to RPI (3-1), St. Lawrence University (4-1) and University of Rochester (5-0).
A Look At the Hawks (2-6)Hartwick College started the season with three straight losses, before earning the team's first victory of the year, a 6-0 victory over Morrisville State College. After a pair of losses to Utica College and Rochester, HC got back in the win column against Brockport, before falling to St. John Fisher College Saturday 4-0. The Hawks are in the midst of a three-game road trip, as the VC game is sandwiched between games with SJF and Stevens this Saturday. Hartwick comes into the week sixth in goals allowed among Empire 8 squads, and is seventh in goals scored with 13.
McKenzie Bond is the leading goal scorer for the Hawks this season thus far, as she has posted four goals and one assist. Claudia Stone is tied for the team lead in points with nine, also having three assists as well. Sarah Ryan also has three helpers this year, and Mikaelan Stulligross has netted a pair of goals. The Hawks have started the same 11 players in all eight games this year. Defensively, Yanna Boggio has made 84 stops in the cage for the Hawks, allowing 23 goals so far this season. Boggio is third in the Empire 8 in saves, and defender Lex Richards leads the team with two defensive saves. The Hawks are fourth in the E-8 in save percentage, stopping 79.5 percent of chances on net.
Against Hartwick College All-TimeThe two teams have only played twice before, with the last meeting coming last year on October 4, a 3-0 win for the Brewers. The other game came back in 2011, with Hartwick taking a 3-1 victory over the Brewers on Weinberg Field. The visitor has won both games in this series.
