SCHENECTADY, NY (September 27, 2014) – Vassar swept singles, and won two out of three doubles matches to best Union College 8-1 in the team's Liberty League opener Saturday afternoon. The victory marked the first dual match win for the Brewers this year, who now move to 1-1 through the opening weeks of the fall season.
The Brewers dropped only one set throughout the duration of singles play to finish a perfect 6-0 on the day. Sophomore
Nick Litsky (St. Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Prep. School) and Junior
Evan Udine (Delray Beach,FL/Boca Raton Community) were victorious in No. 1 doubles, defeating T.J. Moor and Brendan Conry 8-3.
Alexander Luckmann and
William Zhu picked up the other doubles win, topping Max Sandberg and John Shanley 8-2 in the No. 3 match.
Vassar will attempt to take today's momentum into Wednesday, October 1 when the team hosts Bard College at the Joss Tennis Courts starting at 5:00 pm.
