Box Score HOBOKEN, NJ (September 17, 2014) – Stevens Tech scored a pair of second half goals, as the Ducks hung on to top Vassar 2-0 Wednesday afternoon. The Brewer offense was quiet throughout the game, as the visitors only managed a season-low one shot in the defeat at De Baun Athletic Complex. VC moves to 5-2-1 on the year with the loss, while Stevens improves to 3-3 in the victory.
Stevens broke through in the 65
th minute, after senior Quinn Connor controlled a pass on the right side of the box and put a cross into the middle. Sophomore Patrick Masur was waiting to play the ball, and headed it in to put his side up 1-0.
Vassar's lone shot of the contest came in the 74
th minute, when junior
Gavin Jennings (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) put a ball on target to try and find the equalizer. Stevens goalie Mike Renna was there to make the stop, and the Brewers were held without an attempt at the goal for the remainder of the afternoon.
The Ducks added insurance in the 89
th minute when senior Kevin Calloway found the back on the net on a shot that beat Warner on the left side.
Warner was tested early and often in the first half, after a shot from Stevens junior Carson Pryor was saved a little over a minute into the game. Junior Colin Phillips was able to fire off a shot in 20th minute that was saved before Warner made another stop in the 34th minute off a shot from Calloway.
Vassar will get an opportunity to get back in the win column this Saturday, when the team returns to Gordon Field to face Hudson Valley rival SUNY-New Paltz at 12 pm.
