Brewers Draw with Mt. St. Mary, 0-0

Box Score NEWBURGH, NY (August 31, 2014) – Neither side could find the net, as Vassar and Mount Saint Mary (NY) played to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon. 90 minutes of regulation was not enough to determine a result in the game, as the teams went to double overtime before time expired. Both squads registered 12 shots in the tie, as Vassar and Mt. St. Mary both move to 1-0-1 on the season.

The Brewers managed five shots and four corner kicks in the first half, but were unable to find goal as both side's defenses weren't allowing much for scoring chances. The drought carried over into the second half, as the team's ended regulation knotted at zero. In double overtime, freshman Alex Gonzales managed to get a look in the box in the 104thminute, but the shot sailed high. The Knights answered with a header that went wide right in the 105th minute, before senior Zack Nasipak took the final shot of the game in the 108th minute that was saved.

Sophomore goalie Adam Warner continued his scoreless streak to start the season, totaling four saves on the afternoon to earn the shutout.

The Brewers will return to action on Wednesday September 3 when the team hosts Western Connecticut State at 4:00 pm.
