POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 15, 2014) – The Vassar men's swimming and diving team was in action Saturday afternoon, falling to Liberty League foe Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 187.5-103.5 at Kresge Pool. RPI notched 10 event victories to secure the win, including a sweep of the diving points. The Brewers move to 2-2 on the year in duals, while RPI improves to 2-1.
Senior Luc Amodio (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) touched the wall first in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:16.13 to earn the win. Amodio was just edged in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 55.81 to take second while RPI's David Gardiner (55.36) got the win.
Sophomore Anthony Walker (Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) also earned a victory, finishing in 2:00.56 to edge the field of Engineer swimmers. Walker also had the fastest time in the water in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.81.
The Vassar swimming and diving teams will return to action on November 22 to face Hudson Valley rival SUNY-New Paltz in a dual meet.
