Last Time Out:
Vassar is coming off of a tough loss Saturday at William Smith, where the Brewers were able to shutout the No. 14 Herons for the entire first half of play. However, the defending NCAA champions were able to combat some stellar first-half play by the Vassar defense and goalie Emma Nichols (Lexington, MA/Lexington) with five second-half goals to defeat the Brewers 5-0. .
Going into the match against Montclair State the Brewers will need to find a way to combine their defense that produced four consecutive shutouts earlier this season with an increased attacking presence.

A Look at the Red Hawks (10-1):

The Red Haws have had an incredibly successful season thus far, currently holding a 10-1 record and the No. 16 ranking in the nation. Montclair State started off the season with a 1-2 loss against Johns Hopkins University; however, they have won 10 straight games since then shutting out every single opponent by a combined 39-0.

Montclair State currently sits atop the New Jersey Athletics Conference thanks to its high-powered offense, which records 3.64 goals per game. The squad's shutdown defense has also been excellent allowing only two goals all season both coming in the first match of the year. Montclair State has four separate players who each have recorded six goals so far this season, so Vassar will need to have a comprehensive defensive plan, being unable to focus on and try to hold one or two players scoreless.

Against Montclair All-Time:

The Brewers are 3-5 against Montclair State all-time going all the way back to the 1992 season. Vassar's last victory over Montclair State came back in 1996 by a score of 3 to 1. The Red Hawks have won the last 4 meetings between the two teams, last beating Vassar 1-0 on September 11, 2013.

Rising Up the Record Books:
Senior Chloe Wheeler (Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake) has entered the top-five in career goals this season, scoring her 27th of her career against RIT over the weekend to move into sole possession of the No. 5 spot. Next on the list is Carolyn Demougeot (2007-10), who scored 29 career goals at Vassar. Wheeler is also sixth in all-time points (60) with plenty of time to move up the ranks as the season progresses.

A Look at the Liberty:
Vassar currently occupies the No. 8 spot in the conference standings, with five Liberty games yet to play over the nest month. Defending league champion William Smith (3-0) is currently first, while the Liberty's other unbeaten team RPI (2-0) is in second.
