Box Score SCRANTON, PA (October 28, 2014) -- The University of Scranton forward Alyssa Fania posted three goals Tuesday evening as the Vassar College field hockey dropped a non-conference tussle 4-2 in action from Franklin Field.
The Brewers (11-5) fell behind 1-0 14:19 into the game, as Alyssa Whitman tipped in a shot from Krista Osborne for the early deficit. Fania posted her first of the game just before halftime, posting a unassisted tally on a loose ball on the left side of the cage to make the score 2-0 before the break.
After intermission, Fania scored her 17th of the season with help from Osborne off a cross to make the score 3-0. Vassar got on the board at the 44:07 thanks to a
Hayley Beach (Latham, NY/Shaker) goal, as she knocked in a rebound from senior
Enya Cunningham (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg).
Minutes later, Fania completed her hat trick on a penalty stroke to make the score 4-1. The Brewers completed the scoring for the night at 56:32 of the contest, as Cunningham chalked up her third penalty stroke goal of the season. Vassar had a few more chances to during regulation, but Scranton held on for the win.
Scranton held a 16-10 advantge in shot attempts, while also earning 12 of the game's 19 penalty corners. Vassar keeper

Sophie Arnold (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) chalked up her second defensive save of the season.
Cunningham led the way with a game-best six shots, putting three attempts on goal. Seven of the team's 10 shots came on net, while nine of the 16 attempts for Scranton (13-4) were on cage. Krista Mundy stopped five shots for the Royals.
The Brewers finish their regular season Saturday afternoon at New Paltz for a 1 p.m. face-off with the Hawks in non-conference action.
