The second half saw the host Brewers continue to build their lead, as Vassar took the game's highest advantage of 25 with 10:30 remaining after a triple from Osman. VC's lead continued to hover around 20 points, as the Brewers cruised to their 10th victory of the season. The win was the first over RIT since February 17, 2012, and the victory evened the all-time series with RIT at three wins apiece.
The 10th win for Vassar marked the first time since the 2008-09 season that the Brewers have reached the double-digit win plateau, accomplishing the feat in just 13 games. Smith finished with a game-high 15 points, as he tied his season-best, also posting 15 at New Paltz back on November 21.
Osman came off the bench to register a career-best 13 points, making five of his eight field goals. Ladan had a solid contest of 10 points, seven boards and five assists, and Erikson Wasyl (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) finished with 10 points. Junior Alex Snyder (Rutland, VT/Rutland) finished with a game-high nine rebounds, also chalking up six points.
Vassar shot the ball well all game, making half of the 56 shots it took from the field, including making 52.4 percent (11-21) of the shots from behind the three-point arc. VC held a 40-34 edge on the boards, and assisted on 20 of the 28 buckets scored. The Brewers also added eight blocks as well, with three players rejecting a pair of shots.
JP Reagan (12 points) was the only player in double figures for the Tigers, who made 20 of their 64 shot attempts Saturday. Mitch Herman made all three of his shots, all from behind the three-point line, to finish with nine points. Joe Stortini added eight points, four boards and four steals, and Kamron Davis had a team-leading eight rebounds. RIT made just four of its 21 three-pointers taken in the contest.
Vassar will continue its five-game homestand with a conference affair against Bard College Tuesday evening in the AFC at 8 p.m. in Poughkeepsie.
