Box Score 2 SWARTHMORE, PA (September 14, 2013) – The Vassar College women's volleyball team started play in the 10
th annual, two-day Garnet Classic, hosted by Swarthmore College. Vassar was knocked off by Stevenson University in three games, rebounding to earn a three-set win over Hamilton College.
In the opening match, the Mustangs (11-0) posted the win with scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-13. Stevenson was on fire offensively Saturday, hitting at a .403 clip for the match. In the third set of the contest, SU connected for 17 kills in 25 swings, making no errors offensively. The Brewers did do a nice job in the back row though, coming up with 83 digs on the contest, led by the 23 from freshman

Miller and
Taylor Mosley (Dallas, TX/Parish Episcopal School) led Vassar with six kills apiece, while junior
Clara Cardillo (San Francisco, CA/Bay School of San Francisco) had five kills. Sophomore libero
Chloe Hallum (Olympia, WA/Olympia) had 22 digs on the contest, extending her streak of games with 20 or more digs to six.
Mosley added 21 digs two blocks, while freshman
Sarah Roberts (Port Washington, NY/P.D. Schrieber) had four assisted rejections. Senior
Megan Andersen (Santa Monica, CA/The Archer School) posted three service aces and 10 digs.
In the second contest of the night with Hamilton College, Vassar had little trouble in dispatching of the Continentals (1-5) with scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-21. The Brewers were lifted in the second match of the evening thanks to superb hitting, as they connected on a .289 percentage in game one and an even better .345 clip in game two.
Cardillo paced the Brewer hitters in the second match of the evening, finishing with 11 kills on 22 swings. Mosley chalked up a double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs, while Roberts posted eight total blocks in the middle.
Miller posted 15 digs and three assists rejections, senior setter
Rose Carman (Santa Cruz, CA/Santa Cruz) had 25 assists, and Hallum posted 26 digs from her libero spot. Overall against Hamilton, VC had 72 digs and 11 total blocks.
The Brewers (5-4) will take on host Swarthmore College tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. before battling in the championship or consolation round at noon in day two of play.
