POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 27, 2013) – The second-seeded Vassar College men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Men's Tennis Liberty League Championships Saturday afternoon with a perfect 5-0 win over seventh-seeded Union College.

After a clean sweep of the three doubles matches, freshman Daniel Cooper and senior Josh Kessler finished the opening round, Spring Cleaning at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively. Cooper defeated Union's Spencer Fontein, 6-1, 6-1 while Kessler topped Andrew Schwartz, 6-1, 6-0.

The #2 Brewers (8-12) will next face #3 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 2:00 pm on Sunday. #1 Skidmore College defeated #8 Bard College, 5-0 and will next face #4 St. Lawrence University after the Saints defeated #5 Hobart College, 5-2. The Thoroughbreds and Saints will face off at 10:00 am.

Cooper teamed with senior Andrew Guzick for an 8-2 win over Taylor Moor and Grant Zaccareo. Kessler paired with freshman Christian Phelps for an 8-2 victory over Peter Simonds and Schwartz.
