Men's Tennis Falls To Regionally, #13 Stevens, 5-4

HOBOKEN, NJ (April 17, 2013) – The Vassar College men's tennis team fell in a close-fought match to #13 Northeast Regionally Ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening. Senior Josh Kessler picked up two wins for the #12 Regionally Ranked Brewers despite the 5-4 loss.

Kessler defeated Tyler Tisdale, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at the No. 5 singles while teaming with freshman Christian Phelps for a decisive, 8-3 win over Ducks' doubles pair of Derek Smith and Tisdale.

The Brewers drop to 6-12 on the season. They will next host New York University on Friday, April 19 at 2:00 pm. The day is also Senior Day where Andrew Guzick, Dan Freeman, Nick Jasso and Kessler will be acknowledged for their efforts.

Guzick picked up a three-set win over Matthew Heinrich at the No. 1 spot. He won, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. He had teamed with freshman Daniel Cooper at No. 1 doubles but fell, 8-6 against Chris Rosensteel and Heinrich.
